CASE STUDY – Plants for Spaces
Plants for Spaces
Plants for Spaces is a supplier of packaged gardens for residential properties, based in Wantirna. They specialise in helping owners who live in residential estates to navigate design guidelines, simplify their garden choices, and have the selected plant packages delivered to their door.
Plants for Spaces adds an immense level of simplicity and value, especially for home owners that need to adhere to estate design guidelines. However, they had difficulty working out how to best explain it to potential customers in an engaging way. They had previously tried the Fiverr route with an animated explainer video, but apparently it was so bad that they decided not to use it. Not only was it unclear, but it was largely an intellectual explanation, with nothing to evoke emotion.
WHAT WE DID
After meeting with Plants for Spaces and learning about what they were trying to achieve, I developed a concept where the process is told as a story from the perspective of a customer experience. The journey was designed to be instantly relatable to any ideal client.
The underlying theme was simplicity, so we wanted the video to also remain relatively simple. Using a mix of concise scripting and visual cues to tell the story, we were able to share information without creating complexity. The client was also concerned whether the DIY aspect of the service would be a problem (they deliver, but they don’t plant them for you). But we turned that into a positive by demonstrating the sense of fun and achievement that can be gained from the experience.
Filming took place over half a day, plus a quick follow-up shoot of the final result once the plants had settled in. We will likely do another quick follow up perhaps in 12 months time once the trees and bushes have had a chance to fill out further.
The clients were extremely happy with the result, and are planning further projects together in the future.
