CASE STUDY – Chinese Association of Victoria Gala Ball
CHINESE ASSOCIATION OF VICTORIA
The Chinese Association of Victoria is an organisation based in Wantirna that encourages integration with Australian society whilst sharing the richness of the Chinese cultural heritage including through language, arts, sport and music.
The CAV holds an annual Gala Ball, a spectacular night of music, dancing, food, and other fun activities. They wanted to create a video that captures not only the event, but the real essence of the CAV organisation, and what they strive to bring to the community.
WHAT WE DID
To capture the real essence of the organisation, I recorded the speeches from various speakers during the night, and pieced together a narrative during editing that I felt represented the soul of the organisation. Set to the right choice of music (how often is music overlooked?!!), we created a moving backdrop for why the organisation exists, and the positive impact it has for the local community.
Once the official proceedings were done, it’s party time! To capture the colour, energy and vibrancy of the event, everything was filmed hand held, with lots of movement set to a punchy soundtrack, to match the non-stop energy of the event. The benefit of having a small and nimble setup meant I was able to get up close and personal with both the performers and attendees without being intrusive or negatively affecting their enjoyment of the night.
The client was super happy with the end result.
